First 3D break location for Qbuzz drivers installed in Natura 2000 area
Today, Qbuzz - part of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane- and silva.builders introduce the world’s first fully recyclable 3D-printed break location in Oosterwolde. This innovative, sustainable structure, designed specifically for Qbuzz drivers in the Friesland concession, is the first of its kind and represents a new standard in sustainable infrastructure.
“A fully recyclable break location aligns with Qbuzz's sustainable and innovative strategy. We are committed to providing solutions that contribute to a cleaner and greener world," says Anita Schrage, Operational Director at Qbuzz. "The 3D-printed break location is unique and offers our drivers a comfortable place to take a break.”
Innovation in Harmony with Nature
The break location is entirely CO2-neutral, fully recyclable, and printed with environmentally friendly bio-material. Thanks to its innovative design, it meets the strict requirements of Natura 2000 areas. The project demonstrates how innovation and sustainability can come together.
“This is a milestone for us. This project shows that advanced 3D printing technology can be not only innovative but also environmentally friendly and visually harmonious with its surroundings. Achieving this within a Natura 2000 area underscores the value of our approach,” adds Johan van der Woude, architect and co-founder of Silva.builders.
A Model for the Future
This break location in Oosterwolde sets the standard for sustainable construction techniques in the Netherlands and beyond.
From Sunday, December 15, drivers will be able to use this break location as Qbuzz takes over the Friesland concession from Arriva.
